Only 22 of the nomination papers have been submitted
The final day of submission of nomination papers for candidates interested in contesting the Kadash Jatiya Sangsad elections will be held on Wednesday. But till Monday, only 22 candidates who were interested in the 15 seats in the city's city submitted nomination papers. There is no one in the Awami League and BNP.
This information was revealed at the office of Dhaka Divisional Commissioner at Segunbagicha yesterday. The Dhaka Divisional Commissioner is the Returning Officer of 15 seats of Dhaka City.
Separate desk has been set up for the Dhaka-18 seats from Dhaka-4 to the Returning Officer's office in Segunbagicha. Yesterday, two candidates of the CPB, Progressive Democratic Party, Bangladesh Islamic Front and Bangladesh Nationalist Front and one of the Bangladesh's Islamic Movement Bangladesh submitted nomination papers. Apart from this, an independent candidate submitted the nomination papers yesterday.
CPB Abu Taher of Dhaka-6 constituency, Mufti Islami movement of Dhaka-15 constituency Hemayetullah and Siddiqur Rahman of the same party in Dhaka -16 seats, Ali Haider of progressive democratic party in Dhaka-17 constituency, MA Momen of Bangladesh Islamic Front in Dhaka-18 seats, Dhaka- Anisuzzaman, independent candidate of 17 constituencies and Shafiullah Chowdhury of Bangladesh Nationalist Front in Dhaka-9 seats submitted nomination papers. The people with the candidates who came to submit their nomination papers were counted.
After submitting nomination papers for the party candidate, CPB central committee secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince told reporters, "The Election Commission has not yet been able to form a level playing field. We see, in many places the candidates are being prosecuted, which is banned. The administration will not be taxed-the Election Commission and the government could not guarantee this. Calling for a "one-pointed policy" against EC, she said, they are hoping that the election commission will give a fair election by strengthening the spine and through the proper application of law.
